The Becconsall Living History and Heritage Park will be jointly hosting a display relating to the craftsmanship of the Last remaining Cooper from Preston Docks. The venue will be the Mere Brow Smithy, 29, The Gravel, Mere Brow.

The traditional craft of a Cooper was an essential part of Dock life in any port. A wide variety of goods and produce was stored and transported across oceans in barrels. This display will focus on the skill and craftsmanship of a Cooper and how changing times impacted on one family. There will also be a working blacksmiths forge and other metal working demonstrations .
