An opportunity to see a working traditional blacksmiths forge , once to be found in every village, sadly all too rare nowadays.

Built in 1875, the Mere Brow Smithy was an essential service, with the blacksmiths making and repairing all kinds of tools as well as shoeing horses. It was also an important meeting place within the village. The village blacksmith often also operated as the local dentist and barber!
After years of being used for various other businesses, the building is once again a traditional smithy and heritage workshop.
