18-20 High Street, Warminster, Wiltshire, BA12 9AE

  • 15 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

A historic tour around the 500 year old buildings, showing the various parts of the building in their current use as a showcase of today's Athenaeum.

Built in 1857, the Athenaeum is a fine Grade II listed building. Uses have ranged from a literary institution to cinema, theatre and now a vibrant centre for the community. Come and join us for a guided tour of Wiltshire's oldest working theatre, covering the history of the site from medieval times to the present day.

The tour will include as many areas - some behind the scenes - as available on the day.

There will also be a display of historic plans, old programmes, photos and artefacts in the Gallery.

Please note our historic Athenaeum has many stairs, we apologise but some areas may not be accessible to all.
Time permitting, the tour will include the adjoining Close Centre (old school building).
