This is a fantastic opportunity to see the great art of Gainsborough, along with exhibitions of international appeal including Revealing Nature: The Art of Cedric Morris & Lett-Haines as well as The Iris Florilegium of Sir Cedric Morris, all free of charge. During your visit, don't forget to head to the top floor to see our special viewing window in the Landscape Studio with spectacular views over the Sudbury landscape as well as Gainsborough's House and garden.
As part of Heritage Open Days, on Sunday 15th September from 10am -2.30pm, the Gainsborough's House team will be taking the camera obscurer to Market Hill in the centre of Sudbury so visitors can enjoy the sights of Sudbury from a very different perspective. Come and say hello and have a go at capturing live images of this wonderful historic town.
During your visit, make sure you pop in to The Watering Place Cafe situated in the heart of our museum and galleries - the perfect place to stop for a drink and a bite to eat before visiting our shop for a bit of retail therapy.

Gainsborough’s House is mostly accessible by wheelchair. Unfortunately, larger mobility scooters are not suited to our museum layout. You may borrow our manual wheelchair while visiting and this is located at the reception desk. If you would like access to this during your visit, please call in advance if possible. Once you are in the gardens, there is ramp access to The Watering Place Café and the main House.
