From Washhouse and Slipper baths to Community Leisure Centre. Come and have a tour of our building to see the fascinating legacy of these changes.

Opened on 5th November 1931, the Lenton Cottage Baths consisted of a washhouse and slipper baths. A swimming pool was added in 1966 and in the 70s the portion of the building used for the men’s slipper baths was converted into a community centre.
As a result, the Lenton Community Association was founded to manage the new community centre, which was opened on 3rd February 1979. In 1983 a storeroom and slipper bath were converted into a main hall and meeting room respectively.
In 2004 Nottingham City Council decided to close the centre, but local people lobbied to save it and bought the whole building for £10. For more information see https://www.thelentoncentre.org.uk/history/
