Let the bells ring out for Stowmarket

Rounds and call changes, Queens and Tittums, Grandsire, Plain Bob and Stedman..... With trepidation and caution – and unexpected joy in the sound of the new bells - we rang and demonstrated, described and talked about our bells last September. A year on, we have grown in confidence and the bells have been blessed and ring out regularly for the Stowmarket community. Come and see what goes on behind the door. Explore up the steep, winding wooden stairs and watch as ringers show how the bells are rung in the ringing chamber. Come up the metal, spiral staircase and climb two short ladders to be close to the bells as they ring. Ear defenders provided!

Accessibility details
Access to the ringing room and bell chamber is via steep, spiral staircases and ladders, which may be physically challenging. Full wheelchair and pushchair/pram access to the church ONLY where screens will be displaying ringers in action at planned intervals during the day. In church: On-site accessible toilet Hearing loop Assistance dogs welcome Young children will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Appropriate footwear to manage stairs and ladders is needed.
