St James The Apostle, Milnrow Visit this Grade II listed Church which has been on its present site for over 150 years.

Designed by the architect George Edmund Street, who also designed the Royal Courts of Justice in London, with stone sculpture by Thomas Earp, whose works include the Eleanor Cross which stands at Charing Cross, London, this present Church building has served the people of Milnrow for over 150 years being dedicated on 21 August 1869. It had replaced an earlier building built in the grounds in 1814. Money for the present building was donated by James Schofield, a local mill owner and his family.
The Church has recently undergone restoration and redecoration to the Chancel area and the roof has also undergone refurbishment in 2022.
The Churchyard is the final resting place of David Brooks one of the Original Rochdale Pioneers. Our War Memorial has recently had a major refurbishment and there are a number of War Graves within the grounds.
