Fireground museum of firefighting , with tours of the fire station building and former ballroom

Rochdale's wonderful former fire station on Maclure Road, was the most technically advanced in the country when it opened in 1933. Now repurposed (since 2021) as the Fireground museum, of firefighting in Greater Manchester, the building retains many of its original features including the magnificent hose tower, engine house and art deco-inspired first-floor ballroom, now used as office space. Free entry to the Museum for the day, along with guided tours of the building. Free car park and cafeteria onsite. Pre-booking not necessary.
