A virtual tour of the River Hull Valley by Carol Osgerby.

The River Hull is short and seemingly unremarkable. So wide and flat is its valley that its sides are almost invisible at ground level. It may be the only British river with a city named directly after it; it is England’s most northerly chalk stream; and at only 25 miles long, its 40 tributaries include the Rattling Water and Driffield Trout Stream.

My talk covers the river that flows through the valley, and how it has influenced the history of the area from Driffield to Hull, with some incidents from that history. I will also talk a little about how history has affected and altered the Hull Valley. The talk will include a suggested itinerary of places to visit, and is part local history, part travelogue.
