TALK 10: The Mapping of Hull

15 Whitefriargate, Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU1 2ER

  • 10 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

This talk by local historian Rob Bell will examine the progressive developments of maps in general and in particular maps of Hull following the invention of the printing press.

A mind map can be used to organise your thoughts or, more conventionally to help you find your way. Early maps were allegorical, depicting the known world in a religious context – Mapa Mundi. In the 15th and 16th century, maps began to appear as ways to understand floods, water levels, grazing rights for cattle and sheep.

In this talk, Rob will make us all a little wiser.
