Our first Heritage Open day will be focusing on the Heritage of the East Lancashire Railway by display of locomotives and rolling stock from the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway which operated the current Heritage line from 1847 to 1922, we also have vintage buses, vans, trucks, bikes on display and our detailed model railway showing the ELR in late 1940s.

The event will host vehicles of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway vehicles on display will be LYR Radial Tank "1008" on loan from the National Railway Museum, LYR Class 23 Locomotive - 752, LYR "Pug" 19, LYR Narrow gauge locomotive "Wren" which used to operate the narrow gauge railway network around the former Horwich Works near Bolton. LYR Directors Saloon No.1. LYR horse drawn dray.

- Pug 19 - Will be in steam carrying out shunting demonstrations close to the museum for visitors to see.

- LYR 752 and Directors saloon will be on display in the museum yard, with access to visitors to look inside the saloon.

- Radial tank locomotive "1008" will also be outside on display, there will also period freight wagons on display or being shunted.

- Also recently arrived London Midland & Scottish Railway "Stanier tank" 2500 also on loan from the National Railway Museum.

Inside the museum there is a wide range of vintage vehicles, from Bury buses, Post Office vehicles, good vehicles, a wide collection of vintage bikes and bicycles. Display boards detailing the history of the railway, and educational media.

Directions:
The access steps to the museum are located across from Bolton Street Station, accessibility needs access is made by walking down Bolton Street heading out of town, turning right on to Castlecroft Road, continue to walk down to Castlecroft Road until you you reach Castlecroft Garage on the right, walk down the road way into the garage and this will lead you to the Museum.
