St Mary's Church in Hemyock has a record that Thomas de Hydon was Rector from 1268 and in the 1300s a separate chantry chapel was dedicated to St Katherine by St Peter d'Uvedale and his wife Margaret who owned the adjacent Hemyock Castle.

Tavistock Catholic Church is linked to the mining heritage of Devon and Cornwall. It was built by the Duke of Bedford to accommodate the miners who flooded into the town in the mid 1800s to work in the local mines.

Tour the centre and then see and hear about the fascinating history of St David's. The centre was originally an 18th Century merchant’s house and former school for the partially blind.
