Built from blue and red brick between 1709 and 1713, Belgrave Hall was commissioned for hosiery merchant Edmund Craddock. The tranquil walled gardens, surrounding the Hall, include plants and trees introduced by the Hall’s many owners.

A Saturday opening that promises to be a little bit different

Take a trip through the fascinating past of Leicester’s Oldest Theatre. Residents of YMCA Leicestershire have been hard at work digging into the archives to discover and share stories from colourful characters across the theatre’s dramatic 123-years.

The restoration of the parish church at Wymeswold, Leicestershire, was something of a trend-setter - at least back in the 1840s. Bob Trubshaw puts this restoration into the context of the early Gothic Revival movement.

Features include 44 magnificently carved sandstone pillars, a beautiful temple dome and ceiling with traditional carvings, a white marble floor, mirrored walls, traditional doors at the Garbhagriha (the inner sanctum) and hand-carved staircases.
