Yeovil - Romans to Railways

Yeovil Library, King George Street, Yeovil, Somerset, BA20 1PY

  • 07 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Exploring Yeovil's heritage from Roman times to the arrival of the Railways in the 1850s and 1860s.

Join South Somerset Heritage Collection staff and volunteers for a fun trip through Yeovil's Roman and Railway Heritage.
With the 2024 Theme of Routes, Networks and Connections we will discover the route of the Roman road through Yeovil and related archaeology. We will then see how the town developed through to the coming of the railways, the routes these made across Yeovil and the impact on local people and industry.
These areas will be supported by a Roman mosaic theme activity and our railway theme loan box.
