Winchester City Mill - The Great Pilgrimage

Winchester has long been associated with pilgrimage, since as far back as the Middle Ages. But, in 1913, another Great Pilgrimage passed through the city, as women from across the country converged on London, campaigning for the Vote. This piece of prose microtheatre, by performance troupe Out There Actions, tells their story, as relevant today as it was one hundred years ago.
The performance will take place in the inspiring surroundings of the National Trust's Winchester City Mill, a building with its own connections to pilgrimage, and will be repeated multiple times throughout the day, on demand. It will contain verbatim elements, taken from original newspaper reports of the time. The Great Pilgrimage was instrumental in ensuring that women won the Vote, but its importance is largely forgotten. Come along to be both educated and entertained in a unique setting.
