Winchester and the St James Way: Walking tours with James Beddington
42 Parchment Street, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8BA
James Beddington, a lecturer from the University of Winchester, will guide you along the St James Way from our Mosaic Studio in Parchment Street all the way to St Cross. He will tell you about medieval Winchester and its pilgrims, and where to find the most exciting witnesses of that period that are still standing at this point in time. Together, you will complete your own stage of the pilgrim's route.
The walk is part of our group of events around Winchester and the St James Way in connection to this year's theme of 'Travels - Networks - Connections.' All of the events can be done as one-offs, or be experienced part of a cohesive experience.
If you would like to have your own pilgrim's badge as a souvenir, then complete the map that you will be given at the start of the tour. With James's help, you will look for way stamps, details to be found and recorded, answers to be sought. Once you have successfully completed your walk, you can bring the completed map back to the studio to receive your HOD 24 pilgrim's badge.
