Winchester and the St James Way: Complete your own mosaic of the pilgrims' way signage

Medieval spiritual journeys could not be done on foot alone. Prayers and certain activities could equally become a mediation and journey closer to God. The illustration of books or creation of beautiful art in the name of God and the Saints could was one of those ways. The slowness and full attention needed for the task made it possible for the devote traveller to clear their mind and fully immerse themselves in the topic of their work. For others, the joy lay in the beauty which brought a spiritual fulfilment of its own.
If you do not wish to follow the St James Way through Winchester physically, or if you would like to do both. You can go on your own journey by completing a St James way sign with the help of a mosaic kit. No previous experience is needed. If you book yourself into one of the studio slots, we can give you help if you need it, but you can equally take the kit at home and complete it there. No additional tools are needed.
Make sure to book early, as there is only a limited number of kits and especially timeslots in the studio on Parchment Street.

- We have a small studio, and space is very tight. It is essential that you book ahead. Please also let us know as soon as possible, should you need to cancel, in case there is someone on the waiting list. Please also let us know if you want to pick up a mosaic kit for home, to ensure that we still have enough available for you.

Accessibility details
Our downstairs toilet has a very small door and would not be wheelchair accessible. We do live in the city centre, however, so it might be possible to establish the location of a toilet elsewhere on request. We have cats on the premises which can be kept away from the studio space if requested previously. We have some hot and cold beverages on site, and there are places to buy snacks closeby.
