The building is 60' high and 200 years old. Access to all floors is via a number of steep wooden ladders - 5 in all. Sadly this does not lend itself to those with any physical disability or a fear of heights. The windmill site is flat grass which readily affords wheelchair access and there is ample parking. Note however that the surface is quite uneven in places.
The mill is on the top of a hill which affords splendid views across the Wiltshire downland. There is a splendid pub, The Swan at Wilton, which provides splendid hospitality to those travelling any distance or wishing to make a day of the event.
