What Lies Beneath - bringing Maryport's Roman fort to life

The Battery, The Promenade, Maryport, Cumbria, CA15 6JD

  • 07 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

A digital scavenger hunt of Maryport's Roman Fort. You and your team will need your smart phone to follow the trail around the fort site. You'll enter a digitally created Roman world to answer questions and work out clues about the fort.

The digital experience will bring the Roman fort, Alauna, to life. No longer just a green field of grazing sheep!

You will have access to the Senhouse Roman Museum, which displays the largest group of Roman military altar stones and inscriptions from any site in Britain and is of international importance, where there will be storytelling to bring the history of some of the artefacts to life.

And there will be Roman food to sample - created from original Roman recipes and roman music to make the evening more immersive and memorable.
