Wey River Festival

On Saturday 14 September, the popular River Wey Festival returns to Dapdune Wharf in Guildford from 11am culminating in the magical illuminated pageant at dusk.
Free to enter, everyone is invited to come along and soak up the atmosphere of this colourful annual festival by the river. There will be local food and craft stalls to browse and craftsman demonstrating their skills.
There’s plenty for the children to do too - families can have fun taking part in a variety of activities such as willow weaving, bushcraft, den building, bug hunting plus the opportunity to enjoy the River Wey’s interactive augmented reality sand box, and discover more about the features of the River Wey.
Pilgrim Morris dancers will be back with their music and dancing and the Alder Valley Brass Band will provide a wonderful musical backdrop to the occasion. Prologue Youth Theatre Company will perform the 'Just So' stories from their repertoire.
National Trust boat trips will be running from 1100 – 1800 and visitors can pick up a bargain in the well-stocked second-hand bookshop located in the old Carpenters’ Shed.
The highlight of the whole day is the illuminated pageant at dusk, with boats travelling from the centre of Guildford to Dapdune Wharf, brilliantly lit up with fairy lights and serenaded by the Croydon Steel Orchestra as they arrive at Dapdune Wharf.
The Festival takes place on Saturday 14September from 1100 to 2030. Free entry to Dapdune Wharf. There is no parking at the Wharf.
