Weston Free Church (Moravian) Open Day

Weston Free Church (Moravian), High Street, Weston, Bath, Somerset, BA1 4DB

  • 07 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

One of only a few working Moravian churches remaining in England. Activities include stalls, crafts, entertainment, an audio-visual display, vintage vehicles, a tour of the facilities, history of the Moravian Church, and more. Refreshments available.

We are embracing this year’s theme of Routes-Networks-Connections by working with local partners to showcase how the building and facilities are used by different community groups; including fitness, well-being, charities, model making, local history, and boy’s and girls’ associations.

The Moravian Church is one of the oldest Protestant denominations in Christianity. Its origins can be traced back to the 15th century, and pre-date the Reformation.

Moravian churches (or Unity of the Brethren) are known for their Lovefeast, settlements, Cup of Covenant, Christingles, the Hosanna Anthem, Moravian Advent star, Daily Text ‘Watchwords’, Advent Wreath and Candles, Passion Week / Holy Week Readings, God's Acre (burial grounds with flat stone markers), Easter sunrise service and the Kralice Bible.
