Learn about Westgate Street and its history.

One of four original Roman routes, Westgate is one of the oldest and best-preserved areas of Gloucester and the main commercial route linking the Cathedral to the rest of the city. See its array of stunning historic buildings including the 15th Century timber framed Fleece Inn, Judge’s Lodgings and The Folk of Gloucester. Find out how the Heritage Action Zone, with the award of nearly £2m, is helping to regenerate and revitalise the buildings and life in this area. The walk lasts about one and a quarter hours and ends at The Folk of Gloucester, Lower Westgate Street.
