Built in 1856 Wellesley House retains many original features and is unique among the other houses of Wellington esplanade being slightly wider than its twin the other end of the terrace. The house also has graffiti from soldiers billeted here in WW2 and an impressive shell burst scar from the 1916 German bombardment. The exhibition includes items from the archive of the Lowestoft War Memorial Museum and the Jarvis collection, including a sword reputedly left behind by Cromwell's army and china from the Royal Hotel, used during WW2 as the wardroom of HMS Europa.
