A rare example of a complete mid-19th Century Mortuary Chapel.

This stunning Grade II* Memorial, or Mortuary, Chapel was built by Charles Weld of Chideock Manor in 1852, in memory of his parents. It is built in a cruciform style and surrounded by a graveyard. Inside the wall paintings show rich artistic details of saints and bible scenes and are of considerable quality, showing ideas that led to the Arts and Crafts Movement. It is a rare example of a complete mid-19th century Mortuary Chapel. Donations for upkeep are very welcome.
