If you are interested in local government and would like to hear how our democratic processes have evolved over time, this is the event for you. Have your questions ready for the ward councillors you will meet in the Civic Chamber, where local issues have been debated on voted on for almost a century. From there you will go to see a walnut panelled meeting room adorned with pictures of every Swindon mayor. Finally you will be invited into the Mayor’s Parlour to meet the Mayor and hear his experience of fulfilling this historic role. The official mayor robes, chains and mace will be on display.
