Water Village Band - Bandroom Open Day & 'Open Practice' Session.
1036-1038 Burnley Road East, Lumb-in-Rossendale, Lancashire, BB4 9BL
Water Band was formed in 1866 by local working men who wanted to share their enjoyment of music in their spare time. 158 years, three bandrooms, and several name changes later, the now-named Water Village Band is still going strong and continuing the tradition of brass banding in Rossendale. We're now a community brass band, open to all ages and abilities, but still with the aim of sharing the enjoyment of music here in the villages of Water and Lumb.
For Heritage Open Days we will be holding a special Bandroom Open Day where visitors can hear about the history of Water Band, look at the many photos on our Wall of History, and learn about our unique bandroom 'home' which was once a pub and farm building on the main road between Waterfoot and Burnley.
During the afternoon the band will be holding their usual weekly Saturday Practice Session for beginners and improvers. Visitors will be able to see and hear what happens during a brass band rehearsal, and can also 'have a go' at playing an instrument.
Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon so you can sit and listen to a tune or two with a relaxing brew and a piece of cake.
