Walking tour of Cromer Old Holt Road Cemetery
Old Holt Road Cemetery, 31 Holt Road, Cromer, Norfolk, NR27 9EB
Helen will be telling the forgotten stories of some of those in the Old Holt Road Cemetery including the well known fishermen, Austin Blyth, 'Old Billy' and 'Leather' Rook and other Cromer townspeople such as the bathing machine proprietor, Lucy Miller; Baker, Mr Breese and the landowning Bond-Cabbells. Many of those featured in the talk are the subjects of Helen's new book 'Fishermen, Bathers and Beach Folk', which tells the stories of those captured in the sketches of young artist Juliet Seebohm in Cromer 1883-1884. Helen will have photographs of some of the individuals to help illustrate the tour.

The Old Holt Road Cemetery is a small plot with a small chapel in the centre. The graves are in a wildlife area so we will stick to the short grass path only around the chapel. The path is grass and can be uneven in places. A pram could be pushed but a wheelchair might find the ground hard to navigate. There are no toilets on site, the nearest are in Morrisons, a few minutes walk down the road. Please use the parking in lots in town and walk up. There is no parking directly outside.
