Climb the 170 steps up Wakefield Cathedral tower for magnificent views of the city and surrounding countryside. We have the tallest spire in Yorkshire, rising another 94 metres above the top of the tower. You will also get the chance to see our fourteen bells in action.

Booking conditions:
Children must be aged 10 or over to participate in the tour. Any child aged 10 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must arrive and register at the desk in Wakefield Cathedral at least 15 minutes before the start of their tour. The places of any pre-booked participants who fail to register 15 minutes before the start of the tour will be allocated to people on the day on a first come first served basis.

Accessibility details

You must be in good health to climb the 170 uneven steps of the narrow medieval stone spiral stairs. Sensible shoes must be worn. Children must be aged 10 or over to participate in the tour. Any young person aged 10 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
