Visit the Heritage Centre to discover Darwen's evolving social and industrial history, joining our knowledgeable volunteers on guided walks around the town centre on the 7th and 14th of September. (times to be confirmed).
The Heritage Centre offers exhibitions depicting various aspects of Darwen's history, including the regalia used for formal mayoral events when the town was a borough in its own right.
You'll also have the opportunity to handle artefacts from the mid 20th century.
The Heritage Centre is located in the town centre, not far from the bus and train stations, in a Victorian building which has history of it's own. If you wish to explore the wider area around Darwen town centre independently, leaflets detailing 2 different walks are for sale at the Heritage Centre.
The Heritage Centre has a rich collection of photos from the 19th and 20th centuries which have been digitised and can be viewed on a large touch screen in the main exhibition space as well as many photographs housed in photograph albums

Wheelchair/pram access is at the rear of the building on Church Street. Prior notice of requirement for wheelchair ramps would be helpful but not essential Tel: 01254 433140, Local car parking in the town centre is free of charge for up to 3 hours with some free long term parking also accessible.
