This post mill was built around 1799 and was used for grinding corn.A post mill is the earliest type of European windmill. The whole body of the mill that houses the machinery is mounted on a single vertical post.

Mainly timber-framed, whose body, containing machinery and carrying the sail, rotates about an upright post.A tower-like structure of wood or brick with a wooden cap and sails which are driven around by the wind producing power to work the internal machinery.
In August 1889 the mill was damaged by lightning and then in the 1920s it was so severely damaged by a storm it was never repaired.Parts were used in restoration of other mills, Framsden Post Mill. 1990: and Thrigby Mill in Norfolk.
The only remaining structure is the original circular brick base.
