Vernon Mill Artist Studios Arts - Celebrating 25 years!

The artists of Vernon Mill invite you to celebrate 25 years of artists studios in this former Victorian cotton mill from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th September.
Visit the third floor of our mill - where traces of the old cotton mill still remain, enjoy the open artist studios and participate in our events.
Friday Night is a Preview of the art and a live DJ from Pie Radio spinning old soul and blues classics.
Saturday the art studios will be open again with;
- Children's Hour (1200-1300) featuring a story from one of artist Rosie Brown's wonderful animal books and colouring,
- a fantastic performance from the Stockport Rock Choir (1400).
- Dave Brind will give a fascinating demonstration and talk about making theatrical set models (1500).
Sunday in addition to the art studios there is;
- a two hour free portraits workshop with a model in theatrical costume in Sarah Morley's studio (1200).
- Special guest, author David Edwards Hulme will read from his book 'Fire' recalling an important catastrophic event at our mill where 9 men died (1400)
- performance poetry from Jean The Hat (1500)
Throughout the weekend we have free workshops on making wire animals, 5 minute portraits, our Lowry selfie board to amuse children and adults alike. Free refreshments available.
