The tour will delve into the history of the area from the 16th century.

Upper Deal was the original village of Deal, in the Domesday Book as Addelam, and the church has some Anglo-Saxon artifacts. St Leonard’s was the parish church until 1852 when St Georges and St Andrews became parishes in their own right. The area is full of interesting buildings dating to 16th / 17th century. There are many prominent navy and merchant people buried in the churchyards.

It will be led by Alan Buckman (Chairman of the Addelam History Research Group) and take about 2 hours.
