Tice’s Meadow: from farm to quarry, to community nature reserve, a tour led by Mark Elsoffer with volunteers from the Tice’s Meadow Bird Group

A 2.5 km walk around the reserve, explaining the history of the site from prehistoric settlement to farming, quarrying and restoration to an award-winning nature reserve. Over 1500 species of wildlife have been recorded at the reserve including 200 species of bird.
The walk will follow the Biodiversity Trail taking in woodland, meadow, reed bed and river habitats. The guide will help you spot the resident wildlife. Binoculars will be available but bring your own if you have them.

Accessibility details

The route is flat along unsurfaced footpaths which can get muddy after rain. Walking boots or wellies recommended. There is little shelter if it is raining. If it is dry, parts of the route are suitable for sturdy off-road mobility scooters and some wheelchairs – access via a RADAR gate, please phone 07765 368977 to discuss beforehand. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead at all times when on the nature reserve.
