Thread button workshop

The Regency Town House, 13 Brunswick Square, Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, BN3 1EH

  • 14 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

Thread wrapped buttons have been part of our textile history for centuries. They come in many different sizes and styles.

Join us for a session about the making of the Macclesfield button, (AKA the leek or death's head), which is created on a circular frame, and the Dorset button. Through past centuries, producing both of these was undertaken as a cottage industry.

Once you have the basics, you’ll be well on the way to making many different forms of these buttons - why not give it a go!

Materials will be provided.
