Thetford Open Studios
Maker's Cottage, 20 Magdalen Street, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 2BN
We are offering a great opportunity to come along and chat with local makers and artists, who will be exhibiting their work. Our Open Studios event celebrates creative collaborators! There is always something quite magical when makers and artists gather, it's happened throughout history - a special creative buzz.
Thetford was once the ancient capital of East Anglia, an historic market town situated at the heart of the unique Brecks natural area. Surrounded by England’s largest lowland forest (around 25,000 football pitches’ worth of woodland), Thetford is home to two rivers (the Little Ouse and the Thet), multiple Sites of Special Scientific Interest, three museums (Ancient House, Charles Burrell and Dad’s Army) and three statues (Thomas Paine, Duleep Singh, and Captain Mainwaring). It’s also the home of the British Trust for Ornithology. Much of this influences and inspires our Open Studios - in keeping with this year's HODs theme of Routes, Networks and Connections.
This is a completely FREE event but there will also be items available to purchase too.
Why not take advantage of the FREE HODs guided heritage walk taking place on Thursday 12th September 1400 (booking advisable) and learn more about Thetford's long history of 'making'.

Sadly, there are steps up from the car park to access the property, which means that we are unable to offer access to wheelchair users. The steps are wide and not too steep. Once in the property, there is only one step between two rooms, otherwise all on the flat. If you have a walking stick and could manage the one step, you are very welcome to arrange a time to come and we will organise alternative access for you to make life easier.
