The Water Tower, Peddars Way, Castle Acre, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, PE32 2FP
The Castle Acre Water Tower, a remarkable feat of architectural ingenuity, is set to captivate visitors during this year's Heritage Open Days. This former utilitarian structure has been transformed into an award-winning, eco-friendly home that seamlessly blends historical charm with modern design.
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to explore this unique dwelling on September 14th and 15th, from 11am to 4pm. As you ascend the spiral staircase in the adjoining tower, connected to each floor by bridges, you'll discover how the original water tank has been ingeniously repurposed into a living space with breathtaking panoramic windows.
The tower's renovation showcases expert retrofitting and exceptional craftsmanship, breathing new life into this historic rural structure. Marvel at the original cast iron panels lining the water tank and the cleverly repurposed giant ballcocks now serving as lamps.
The pinnacle of your visit will undoubtedly be the awe-inspiring views of the rolling Norfolk countryside from the top floor. This is a rare chance to witness firsthand how innovative design can preserve and enhance our architectural heritage, making it a must-see during the Heritage Open Days festival
