Discover some of the Society's blue plaques on this free guided walk.

Join us for this free guided walk to learn something of the Society's blue plaque collection. Hear about the history of some of Wakefield's buildings and the people associated with them.

The walk, which will be at a gentle pace, will cover part of the Society's growing collection of blue plaques and will be based on the Society's new blue plaque book, published in 2023 (front cover illustrated above). A free copy of the book, produced with funding support from Wakefield Council, will be given to each person taking part.

Accessibility details

Please note that the walk will be around the Wood Street/St John's/Northgate area of Wakefield and will cover a walked distance of approximately one and a half miles. Although over level ground, there will be kerbs and some surfaces are uneven.
