The South Asia Collection
The South Asia Collection, 34-36 Bethel Street, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 1NR
The South Asia Collection is cared for and managed by The SADACC Trust that is dedicated to recording, preserving, and celebrating the traditional arts, crafts, and cultures of South and South-East Asia.
Immerse yourselves in the exhibitions and displays in our Grade II listed building which was a former Victorian roller skating rink. Our current displays include a selection of wood carving from the Swat valley, textiles from Kutch in India, exquisite pottery from the Bombay School of Art, everyday objects from Indonesia, paintings and prints by European artists travelling in South Asia and many more. In our gallery area, we have an exhibition that showcases the everyday furniture of north-west India and is the result of a first-of-its-kind collaborative research project spanning 7+ years. The permanent collection includes a wide range of objects in diverse materials and craft techniques. Our curatorial team will be on hand throughout the duration of Heritage Open Days to provide further information on the museum objects and our research projects.
Our shop Country & Eastern supports the livelihoods of the craftspeople in the countries we work in. Do have a browse while you visit. Both the museum and shop are open Monday to Saturday 0930-1700 and is free to visit.
