As part of the 2024 Heritage Open Days English Heritage are offering a free guide tours of Knowlton Church and Earthworks on Saturday 24 September and Sunday 15 September at 10:00,11:00, 14:00 and 15:00.
This Norman church, which was built in the 12th century, is situated at the centre of a Neolithic ritual henge earthwork. The unusual pairing of the henge and the church symbolises the transition from pagan to Christian worship.
The 12th century church is built of stone and flint, and the line of the roof remains clearly visible on its eastern face
Booking is essential as parking is limited. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Access: You will find the Church and Earthworks on Lumber Lane, off the B3078. Access is through a gate. The ground is uneven and may become muddy on wet days.
