Talk given by Helen Cooke from Nantwich Museum. Part of the Family History Society Crewe Group Talk Series.

In all likelihood Nantwich wouldn’t have existed as a prosperous market town if it wasn’t for the River Weaver. This talk explores the river’s geography, the roles it played in historic events, and how it supported local industries. Factors affecting the quality of the river’s water over time are also discussed along with related ‘citizen science’ events involving local school children and families organised by the Museum in partnership with Keele University.
