Come to Scrayingham church on 7th September 2024, to learn more about George Hudson, aka the 'Railway King,' England's greatest railway promoter of the 19th century.

George Hudson was born in Howsham on 10th March 1800. He was baptised at Scrayingham church in March 1800 and, following his death in London, he was laid to rest at Scrayingham on 21st December 1871. On 7th September 2024, Scrayingham church will be hosting a small exhibition about George Hudson and local author Matthew Wells will be on hand to talk about his new biography 'George Hudson - The Railway King.' It will also be possible to view other historic aspects of the church, which is said to date from Anglo-Saxon times.
