Height Library, King Street, Irlams O' Th' Height, Salford, Greater Manchester, M6 7GY
Please join us on Saturday 7th September at 2pm where local author, The Frank Mullineux award winner and historian Paul Speakman will present his heritage talk on the visit of Queen Victoria to Worsley, Salford and Manchester in 1851. Her visit with Prince Albert allowed them to stay as guests of the Earl and Countess of Ellesmere at Worsley New Hall. During her visit, Queen Victoria dined with James Nasmyth, Engineer and inventor of the Steam Hammer, visited Peel Park, cheered on by a massive crowd and what has been suggested as 80000 Sunday School children! She also visited the Royal Exchange in Manchester.
We will have refreshments available on the day and there will be time to spend looking around the library too. The library will open at 1.30pm and the talk will start at 2.00pm.
