The Market House, Ledbury
High Street, Ledbury, Herefordshire, HR8 1DH
The stilted black and white Market House dates from the early 17th century and was built as a Corn Warehouse, but also used to store wool, hops and acorns through the centuries. It was used for a few years as a Marriage Room, although that was stopped in 2004 because of disability access laws. Today it is used for town council meetings, sales and exhibitions etc. The twice weekly charter market, dating from the 12th century, still takes place beneath it on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
There will be a PowerPoint Presentation about the history of the Market House.
A guide will be available to answer your questions and there are display boards with information about the Market House
