Art exhibitions and a Medieval undercroft- this incredible gallery is not to be missed!

Not only is The Crypt opening for Heritage Open Days but for Artwave, too! This event will see a heritage arts and crafts exhibition, live demonstrations, free workshops for children and young people, and access to the Medieval undercroft!

Within The Crypt Gallery is an atmospheric medieval undercroft, or vaulted chamber, believed to date to the mid 13th century and traditionally known as ‘The Crypt’. The undercroft is constructed of at least two bays and has a vaulted roof featuring early English bosses, indicating Seaford's considerable status at the time as a Cinque Port. The undercroft is thought to have been sited below a medieval merchant house (possibly a wool merchant) or a court house though its exact origins are unknown.

Please note that the only means of access into the undercroft requires going down uneven steps with a handrail.

The gallery has toilets and baby changing facilities for visitors. A cafe can be found within 15 metres of the building and in other locations in Seaford very near the gallery, which is also just a short walk from the lovely seafront.

There is no entry charge to the gallery but optional adult workshops for a fee.

As this event coincides with Artwave, it will run from 7th-22nd September.
