The Corporation of the Newcastle upon Tyne Trinity House, Broad Chare
Trinity House, Broad Chare, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear, NE1 3DQ
The Corporation of the Newcastle upon Tyne Trinity House has been on its present site since 1505, yet remains unknown to many, a truly 'hidden gem'. The oldest part of the building has stood for over five centuries and has survived civil war, plague and great fires. Within the House, you will find a unique collection of ship models, fine art, books, charts, nautical instruments, furniture, silver and curios assembled over many centuries by the Brethren of Trinity House. The doors of Trinity House are not often open to the greater public. This is an opportunity to learn about sea captains, famous ships, local heroes, the sailor's craft, centuries-old traditions and the enduring folklore of Tyneside.
Guided tours will take place every 20 minutes from 1000 until 1520.
