The Church Mile: A walking tour of Sunderland

Meet at 1030 in Minster Park, in front of Sunderland Minster, beside the 'SUN' sculpture.

The walk will take in aspects of historic Sunderland such as the Empire Theatre and the Eagle Building, as well as new developments in the city such as Keel Square and City Hall. The walk will finish at Holy Trinity, Sunderland's first parish church where refreshments will be available from the cafe.

Be aware, the walk includes a gentle gradient and crosses a dual carriageway. Participants should have suitable footwear for walking around the city. Peter and Hillary are all weather guides, so dress accordingly. This route is not circular, so plan to make your own way back to town.

Meet by the SUN sculpture in front of Sunderland Minster. Sunderland Minster is beside Bishopwearmouth Green, take the path across the road from Sunderland Empire Theatre that cuts between the Minster and Spice Empire Indian restaurant. Seventeen Nineteen is the project operating inside of Holy Trinity Church. You'll find us Next door to Sunderland Mind, The Donnison School, Greys Park and near to Trafalgar Square.
