The Brickworks Museum
The Brickworks Museum, Swanwick Lane, Swanwick, Southampton, Hampshire, SO31 7HB
The Brickworks Museum features 125 years of brick making history under one roof. Experience the journey that clay takes on its journey to becoming a brick as you walk through our authentic, engaging experience.
With plenty to see and do for all ages, a visit to the Brickworks Museum evokes life at the industrial heart of Victorian Britain.
Our site has a café, accessible facilities, a working vintage arcade (small charge for old pennies to operate the machines), room reconstructions, glimpsing life from the 1900s and 1970s plus over 4,000 historic bricks. Think bricks are boring? You'll think again when you find out some of the stories behind the local brickmakers and see just how many different kinds of bricks there are.
New for 2024, a walkway over the refuelling floor of the huge brick kiln, showing how the millions of brick were turned from clay into house building materials.

The museum is an old industrial building and the floors can be uneven. We have a lift to the first floor, blue badge parking and accessible toilets. In wet weather the site can get muddy so sturdy footwear is recommended.
