The Anson Engine Museum is recognised as one of the Country’s leading specialist attractions. Run by passionate volunteers, the museum displays one of the largest collections of internal combustion engines in Europe. It also features working steam machinery, a local history collection, craft workshops and is a magnificent tribute to Poynton's fascinating past.
Visit for free during Saturday the 14th September for a local history experience.
- Travel back in time to Poynton of circa 1900 and admire it from above with the large diorama replica.
- Learn about the town's vast coal mining history, the first house lit by electricity and meet the oldest surviving engine in the world.
- View engines from Mirrlees of Hazel Grove, hearing their association with the famed inventor of the diesel engine, Dr Rudolf Diesel.

Car park is stone rather than tarmac and as a result can be a little uneven. Designated disabled parking situated by entrance. Due to the nature of exhibits and moving parts, children must be accompanied by an adult.
