Tavistock Mobile Museum
The exhibition through photographs records the many changes to transportation in Tavistock during our lifetime. We have lost our two railway routes but an effective bus service based on a purpose-designed terminus has emerged. With increased motor car ownership parking within the town area has become more difficult. Gone are the days when you could easily park for as long as you wanted outside the shops in Duke Street as the 1950s photograph shows.
The “mobile museum” initiative is designed to reach out to the public in spaces outside of the Tavistock Museum itself. Pop into Butchers’ Hall next to the historic Pannier Market and take a look at these examples of changes in transportation in Tavistock.
