Stretford Public Hall open day

Stretford Public Hall, Chester Road, Stretford, Greater Manchester, M32 0LG

  • 15 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Come and have a look inside our beautiful neo-gothic hall. Built by John Rylands in 1879 for the people of Stretford. The building was awarded to the Friends group following a passionate campaign to keep the building public.

Come and hear all about the hall's past and future plans for the hall, have a tour, ask questions to our volunteers and see if you want to get involved.

Free tours of the building throughout the day. Films about the hall will be screened in the Old Library.

Tea party in the Ballroom; come and chat to us about your connections to the building and the networks of people the hall has been used by over the past century and a half.

Talks by Richard Bond and Karen Shannon - learn about John and Enriqueta Rylands and about the Hidden Network of historic buildings and collections in Greater Manchester.

We're looking for people to share their memories of the hall for an archiving project.

There will also be craft activities for the kids.
